Ash Wednesday and Lenten Wednesdays at Holy Trinity

The Season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, February 22nd.  There will be two services: 12:15 PM and approximately 7:00 PM.

The evening service is preceded by a pot-luck supper at 6:00 PM held in the Cafe.

Wednesday Community Nights in Lent

We have noted repeatedly, that, while we like to get together as a community for food and conversation, opportunities to do so are relatively few.

The last few seasons of Lent we have invited members to join a book discussion group that met at different times in homes or at church.

This year, we’re offering a weekly series on Wednesday evenings, beginning with a simple supper at 6:00. PM This will be a prepared meal, not a pot-luck, with a suggested donation of $3 per person.

The format will be simple:

After we eat, we will watch a segment of Living the Questions: An Introduction to Progressive Christianity. Many prominent progressive Christians were interviewed for the series: John Bell, Dominic Crossan, Sister Helen Prejean, Marcus Borg, to name some who appear in just the first episode we will be discussing. Each segment has a topical focus, so each week will have a different theme:

February 29 – Social Justice: Realizing God’s Vision
March 7 – Prayer: Intimacy with God
March 14 – Compassion: The Heart of Jesus’ Ministry
March 21 – Creative Transformation
March 28 – Embracing Mystery

After viewing, there will be time for table conversation and an opportunity to share insights with others. We need to know If children are coming so we can have a children-focussed activity prepared. The evenings will end between 8:00 and 8:30.

In order to prepare sufficient food, we would like to have a head-count for each week, so there will be sign-up sheets in church on Sunday. Alternatively, send an email, including names, dates, and if any children will be joining you, to: shesselgrave(at)
and I will transfer the information to the master list.

If there are people who would like to help organize and execute the meals for any of the Wednesdays,
let me (Sherman) know.
