Fantastic sermon Christopher. Wow! Too bad Patrick didn’t seem to be listening. I suppose it’s really too much to expect a bishop to listen to lay people, but we can always hope. I’m really going to miss you brother. I hope Sorrento is a great experience and I’ll have to make a point of heading out there some time to visit.

I should add that I’m very glad you all had each other in objecting at the ordination yesterday considering the way Patrick apparently reacted. I don’t know how well I would have coped if I’d faced that sort of vitriol in Stouffville yesterday. It certainly would have been hard for me to remain calm and polite.

It would be easiest to say I have Faith, and let it go at that.
Doubting is hard work. Rather, to explain Doubt is just as difficult as to explain Faith. Just Words. This is first impression. Quite involved, deep. Need to reread again. And again. Best part of the whole thing came right at beginning “Grace happens”.

A small group has come up with a reworked draft Mission Statement: Holy Trinity is a community of people who seek to express the Christian faith through lives of integrity, justice and compassion. We foster lay leadership, welcome the doubter and the marginalized, and challenge oppressive social structures wherever they may be found.

The people presence group at their AGM were nearly uninimous in insisting that the prohibition against lying down and sleeping be removed from the draft.

I think in the Who Responds section it should be more explicit that members of the congregation should not get involved, possibly with the exception of those who know and have a good relationship with the person acting out, if requested by the staff who are dealing with the issue. (for example, the caretaker may realize that Malcolm, say, has a really good relationship usually with this person, and could call on Malcolm to assist.
