Join us Friday, June 5 to celebrate Sherman‘s ministry and to say farewell
|As most of you are aware, the Rev. Sherman Hesselgrave is retiring from Holy Trinity Church this June. In addition to his ministry with our congregation, Sherman has been involved with numerous organizations and initiatives through the Diocese of Toronto and social justice networks in Toronto and beyond. That is why we are inviting members of Holy Trinity and friends from beyond the community to join with us in recognizing and saying farewell online to Sherman on Friday June 5, starting at 7 p.m.
Obviously, it is not possible to plan the kind of gathering we initially envisioned – a catered dinner and entertainment at the church. Like so many occasions over the past several weeks, our farewell will instead need to be digital.
We invite you to join us from your homes as we hear from a few speakers, enjoy some entertainment, and raise a glass in thanks to Sherman. We hope that you who are members of the congregation or a friend of Sherman’s from some other area of his life and ministry will take this opportunity to celebrate his time among us. For some of you, this will be a time to say goodbye – not in the usual ways of being able to shake hands or give a hug, but by doing whatever is possible in the current reality. Sherman will also be preaching at the Sunday morning service (to be Zoomed) at 10:30 a.m. on June 7, his final Sunday with our congregation. Information about signing in to Zoom for the June 5 event and the June 7 service will be sent at a later date.
