Welcome to the Church of the Holy Trinity.  We are delighted to have you with us this morning. Holy Trinity is an accessible, active, vibrant, justice-seeking, queer-positive community in the heart of downtown Toronto. We try to use language in our worship which includes us all, and we encourage the extensive participation of each person in the worship and life of the Church. At the Peace we move about freely, greeting one another. During the offertory hymn we will move to create a circle around the altar for the Prayers of the People.  All are welcome to share in the Eucharist as they feel comfortable. To help you know Holy Trinity better, and to help you navigate through this service, be sure you have one of the handouts, Welcome to the Church of the Holy Trinity. A special welcome Newcomers!!!! Please fill out the Newcomers Form which will let us know how to reach you.

✜Psalm 19    A Hymn, Adapted, Ian Sowton
Chant, Sherman Hesselgrave

THE heavens are sounding the glory of God;
the firmament proclaims its Maker’s handiwork.
2 Each new day has its own eloquence,
and night to night is declaring knowledge.

3 Their soundless voice cannot be heard,
there is no speech, there is nothing spoken,
4 yet their voices go out through all the world,
their silent speaking words to the ends of the earth.

God has set a tent in heaven for the sun, 5 which strides
like a bridegroom from under his wedding canopy
to run its course with the joyful zest of an athlete.
6 Nothing in all the sky hidden from its heat

as it rises at one end of the heavens
and completes its circuit at the other.
7 The law of the Holy One is perfect, restoring the soul;
the testimony of I AM is sure, making simplicity wise;

8 the rightness of God’s precepts rejoices the heart;
the divine commandment is clear, enlightening the eyes;
9 reverence for the Creator is pure and endures forever;
the Eternal’s ordinances are true and altogether just.

10 They are more desirable than gold – even much fine gold –
sweeter, too, than honey and dripping honeycombs.
11 Moreover, they serve as warning to me your servant,
and the keeping of them brings great reward.

12 Cleanse me from all my hidden faults,
for who is able to detect their own unwitting errors?
13 Restrain your servant, too, from prideful thoughts;
do not let them gain the upper hand over me!

Then I shall be accounted blameless,
and innocent of any great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to you, O God, my rock and my redeemer.

✜ Epistle: 1 Corinthians 12:12-31a    Reader: Carol Clarke
Reader:      A Reading from . . .
Reader:      Hear what the Spirit says to the Churches
All:     Thanks be to God        Silence

✜ Hymn  (all rise, in body or spirit for the hymn and Gospel):
“Many are the Lightbeams”    #588

✜ Holy Gospel: Luke 4:14-21    Reader: Ryan Blakely
Reader:     May God be with you    All: And also with you
Reader:      The Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke
All:      Glory to Christ our Saviour
after the reading
Reader: The Gospel of Christ     All: Praise to Christ our Saviour

The community now offers its prayers, both spoken and unspoken. Please keep your prayers brief.

✜ The Great Thanksgiving (see orange book)
Presider: Jim Ferry
Please do not dip the bread into the wine. The bread and wine will be passed around the circle, but if you prefer you may receive at the gluten-free station at the altar.

✜The Saviour’s Prayer O God, our Mother and Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your reign come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.

✜ Communion Anthem:
“Venez Mon Dieu, Venez”    p. 46, orange book

✜Glory to God: Glory to God, whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God, from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. AMEN.
