Anniversary Sunday

This Sunday we celebrate the Anniversary of the Church of the Holy Trinity’s dedication (1847). We read from Isaiah, Psalm 84, and the Gospel According to Luke. The Homily is offered by Joanna Manning and reflects on HT’s founding principle: a free, open church for all people, funded by Mary Lambert Swale’s vision to abolish pew fees. From its beginnings serving immigrants, refugees, and the poor in Toronto’s Ward district, Holy Trinity has embodied what theologians later called the “preferential option for the poor”—God’s special concern for the marginalized.
