Community Kitchen Going Strong

By: Andres Ramirez-Arana

We have thankfully outlasted the first wave of COVID-19. Indeed, we have seen somewhat diminished numbers of folks who come to our doors for food, hygiene supplies and counselling. However, that doesn’t mean that our service is lacking. We have started a youth-led Community Kitchen, led by Tara and Sinclair. They operate out of the Trinity Square Café, doing loads of prep work and often loads of cleaning, along with cooking delicious meals like breakfast sandwiches, Swedish meatballs, succulently spiced chicken thighs, sloppy joes, salads, potatoes and more. Everything is made from scratch, including corn tortillas for a meal (Tara ordered a press through Amazon Prime). They have drastically elevated our offerings, and the community of people who come to our doors have sung high praises for this quality sustenance, myself included.
