Contemplations on One Tree / Contemplations sur un arbre

Artist Statement

Looking out her kitchen door one day after the rain, Grégoire’s attention was caught by the sparkling raindrops on a Japanese maple planted three years earlier.  She grabbed her camera to capture the magic of the moment. The next day, the sun shone once more after the rain and there she was, eager to reconnect with the tree from new perspectives.

For Grégoire, photography is a contemplative act that allows her to be present in the moment, and appreciate the nature beauty around her.

Proceeds from sales will be used by the Holy Trinity Refugee Committee for refugee sponsorship.

Déclaration de l’artiste

En regardant par la porte de sa cuisine un jour après la pluie, l’attention de Grégoire a été attirée par les gouttes de pluie scintillantes sur un érable du Japon planté trois ans plus tôt. Elle a saisi son appareil photo pour capter la magie du moment. Le lendemain, le soleil a de nouveau brillé après la pluie et elle était là, impatiente de renouer avec l’arbre sous de nouvelles perspectives.   Pour Grégoire, la photographie est un acte contemplatif qui lui permet d’être dans le moment présent, et d’apprécier la beauté naturelle qui l’entoure.

L’argent des ventes sera entièrement donné au comité de réfugiés de l’église Holy Trinity.
