The Church of the Holy Trinity, located in downtown Toronto, seeks a university student for an eight week summer placement.
The Historical Researcher & Animator will illumine Holy Trinity’s historical record of engagement with marginalized communities and explore issues of concern at various historical periods and currently.

Responsibilities:
 Research and develop a series of presentations, in a variety of formats, Holy Trinity’s longstanding connection to and support of various marginalized communities including: LGBTQ2S; marginalized/persecuted ethnic communities, e.g. Japanese- & Armenian-Canadians; First Nations; the unemployed, e.g. during the Depression; homeless & socially marginalized people
 Use available archives (municipal, provincial, national) to explore these themes
 Engage visitors to the church, and provide historical & cultural interpretation
 Digitize selected archival materials for presentation and preservation purposes
 assist at the monthly memorial service where those who have died due to homelessness are
remembered, and foster wider awareness of the causes of and remedies to homelessness
 create a teaching & learning event of what they have learned
 develop/support a fundraising event

Qualifications:
This position is made possible by a grant from Canada Summer Jobs which stipulates that the successful candidate must be coming from full-time school attendance and intends to return to full-time
education in the fall. The successful candidate will be at least eighteen years of age; will be a responsible, self-motivated, and curious person with an interest in or pursuing studies in history/public relations/community development or other related fields.

A satisfactory criminal record check is required for this position.

Period: 8 weeks, 32.5 hours/week (including holiday Mondays)
Remuneration: $15/hour
