In the early hours of August 23, Holy Trinity was set on fire by an arsonist. Due to the quick thinking of someone who was sleeping in the square and who called emergency services, the church suffered no worse damage than the burning of the west door. We are very grateful to him for taking action to save the church.
A temporary door has been installed, and the west entrance remains out of commission. The police have detained the person alleged to have set the fire.
To replace the doors will cost about $60 000 overall, and we as a parish must come up with the deductible of $2500. To support this goal, the Burnt Door Concert is being planned for October 20th at 7:30 pm. It will be an eclectic mix of pop and classical music. Mark your calendars! Saturday, November 5 from 5 to 9 PM Celebrate Sanctuary North’s fifteenth anniversary! There will be supper, a bar, music, entertainment and a slide show of Sanctuary North’s fifteen year history here in the church, 19 Trinity Square. This event is hosted by the Sanctuary North Board and related organizations.
Sanctuary North would not exist if it hadn’t been for a sixty thousand dollar grant that the congregation approved from a “windfall” we received just before the turn of the century. A lot of people from Holy Trinity and San Esteban communities have been involved from the outset though Sanctuary North has welcomed refugees from many different communities.
Please speak with Lee or Michael Creal or Ian Sowton to say you are coming so we can plan for realistic numbers. Email firstname.lastname@example.org It will be a great occasion. A Holy Trinity achievement worth celebrating!

The Holy Trinity Refugee Committee will host it’s Annual Book Sale on Thursday, June 23 & Friday June 24 from 9 to 5 or so. This will be held outside on the south side of the building.
All funds raised directly support the work of The Holy Trinity Refugee Committee. The committee is currently going into its second year of sponsorship of a family of four from Columbia and began the sponsorship of a man from Eritrea who arrived this past February.
With the support of the Church of the Holy Trinity and other amazing volunteers and contributors, we are able to provide financial and emotional support for these refugees while they settle into a new country and community. Our twenty years of refugee sponsorship experience has been shared extensively this past year as many new groups welcomed refugees from Syria.
Always looking ahead, we are excited to continue with the tradition of a book sale fundraiser which over the years has contributed directly to the support of our newly arrived families.
Donations of books (no magazines or textbooks) can be dropped off at 19 Trinity Square Monday to Friday 11 AM to 3 PM. If you require pick up contact Margot at email@example.com or 416-598-4521 ext. 222
